I am not a morning person. No matter how hard I try- it just doesn’t work! My kids wake up pretty early over here which means meltdowns over breakfast happen QUICK. Madeleine needs her yogurt/waffle/fruit/everything else in the world and Eloise will scream over which cup she wants. It’s not pleasant. Add working till 3 am to that mix and you have yourself a real life nightmare. I’ve finally figured out how to make my mornings a bit easier with OXO products.
Since I work bar hours I make it a point to do some meal prep on my days off. I sauté chopped onions and peppers, dice and bake sweet potatoes, roast broccoli and cauliflower. I use these throughout the week in my eggs (like I did today) or in salads to take to work so I don’t live off of french fries. It helps to be able to toss everything together and go!
Our busiest mornings are the day’s that Madeleine goes to school. We all have to be out of the house by 8:45 which is a struggle! On those days we rely on a quick, healthy and filling breakfast. I love our Microwave Omelet Maker for quick eggs that I can load with veggies and cheese. I usually make two 3 egg omelets- one for the girls to share and one for Jeremy and I to share. It takes about 3 minutes to make one omelet and I’m not standing over the oven watching it cook. The best part is for days that I don’t have my veggies prepped, I can steam them in the Microwave Omelet Maker and it only adds a few minutes. Win! You don’t need any extra bowls- just crack the eggs in the Omelet Maker, add a little milk/salt/pepper and go. Our favorite is green peppers, sweet onions and cheddar cheese. So delicious!
While we wait for our omelettes to cool down a little bit I start some bacon. The most important part of breakfast if you ask me. Now I have to admit I am an oven baked bacon type of girl. I’ve never been able to master the stove top skillet and never even dreamed of microwaving it- until now. The Microwave Bacon Crisper is legit. Each time I get delicious crispy bacon and it takes less than half of the time it would in the oven. The Microwave Bacon Crisper itself is made out of silicon and has a built in grease trap so there is basically no mess at all. I usually toss some of my pre-made sweet potatoes in the microwave after the bacon comes out to complete my meal.
Now let’s talk coffee. We have this habit of brewing pots of coffee and only drinking a cup. I forget about it and then it’s gross by the time I get back from dropping Madeleine at school and Jeremy at work. We started using this Pour-Over Coffee Maker with Water Tank and haven’t turned back. At first I was really intimidated by it but OXO makes it so easy- this comes with a water tank that regulates the water so you always get the perfect cup. I use the Adjustable Temperature Kettle to get my water to about 200-205F (this takes like two minutes. SO FAST!), and then pour over the coffee. The rest of taken care of by the Pour-Over Coffee Maker with Water Tank ! I also use my Adjustable Temperature Kettle to make tea since you can choose what temperature you want the water at, and it will hold there for about 30 minutes.
Since I’m not fussing with bowls, spatulas, whisks and pans we have more time to hang out and get ready for the day. And I don’t come home to a sink full of dishes! Those are all wins in my book.
